Anna is new to the Tribal Council, although she has worked for the tribe since 1981.

Most of her time working with the tribe was at the Education Center, where she performed several tasks, but was mainly a tutor for the children.  With being in education for so long, she did not believe that she would ever leave.  When she was finally asked by Nancy McDarment to work at the tribal buildings in the records department, she decided to give it a shot.  While working for the records department, she began creating all the Tribal ID's for the members of the Tribe.  At the request of the Health Center, they she began processing ID's for the Health Center Employees.

Anna's mother was the first female Chairperson, and she has had 2 of her brothers serve as council members.  So taking the step to tribal politics was a natural progression.

Elected in January, 2005, Anna has set high goals for her role on the Council.

These goals include:

  • Change the Voting age for tribal members to 18 rather than 21.  This will allow more members to participate in the council elections.  She believes that if you can go to war at 18 and vote for the president at 18, why should you not be allowed to vote for council at 18.
  • In addition, she would like to see the tribe grow to be prosperous.
