With
the Tule River Reservation being it's own working community, the public
works department was a needed to assist with the vast growth of the
reservation community and lifestyles.
With growth comes new projects such as roads, plumbing needs, house pad requests, driveway grading and many other independent projects. The Public Works Department is has a variety of responsibilities. The Public Works crew consists of workers from Maintenance workers that work on some of the tribal buildings performing custodial duties and odd jobs, Heavy Machine workers, that work on bulldozers, back hoes and other large construction vehicles, and laborers, that assist with foundation, plumbing and other projects that are needed. This department is not limited to concrete and asphalt, they also assist in the Fire Dept. with fire breaks. Dan Shultz, the Director of the Public Works Department, makes sure the day-to-day operations runs in accordance with the wishes of the Tribal Council and meets the need of the tribal community. |
