Tule River Fire Department
The Tule River Fire Department is an all purpose, all response emergency department. The department has the capability to respond and mitigate emergencies of all types; Wildland Fires, Structure Fires, Vehicle Fires, Dumpster Fires, Vehicle Accidents, Medical Aids, and Public Service Assists. To insure a quick response by trained personnel it is imperative to dial 911 in an emergency situation. This will help with proper notification and lead to an effective response.
The Tule River Fire Department consists of two branches; the Wildland Fire Branch and the Community Fire Branch.
The Wildland Branch has been operating for approximately 12 years. Staffing includes five to ten personnel seven days a week, eight hours per day during the wildland fire season. During the fire season wildland personnel staff two fire engines; one type III and one type VI. They are considered a national resource and respond to wildland fires on the reservation as well as within the United States.
The community fire branch opened June 3, 2006. Staffing includes 12 full time fire personnel; each trained as a Firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician. On each of the three shifts, four personnel are on duty staffing one Type II Engine, one Type IV Mini Pumper, and a Basic Life Support Ambulance within the community 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The mission of the Fire Department is to protect the lives, property and environment of citizens and visitors of the Tule River Reservation by a two fold means; by providing a rapid response to mitigate all types of fires, medical aids, accidents, natural disasters and public assistance in the community. We are also committed to protection that takes place by efforts of prevention work in the community, while also providing a work environment that values cultural diversity and is free from harassment and discrimination of all types.
