The Office of General Counsel is responsible for providing day to day legal advice to the Tribal Council concerning Tribal, State, and Federal law issues.  Other matters that the office deals with are, providing litigation support, drafting and  reviewing contracts, meeting with local governments to address Casino issues, attending California Native American Heritage Commission meetings as needed, plus working with individual land owners, as well as the County of Tulare regarding sacred sites and Native American grave-related items, attending meetings regarding the implementation of SB 18 Tribal Cultural Places, assisting in drafting Tribal Ordinances, addressing tax law issues, including the tax liability of the Tribe and enterprises of the Tribe including gaming, consulting with Congressional and legislative staff, in coordination with the lobbyists of the Tribe, providing the Tribal Council general updates on federal and state, legal and political developments, and legislation impacting Indian gaming, and other areas of Indian Affairs, advising the Tribal Council on Indian Child Welfare Act issues, advising the Tribal Council on Tribal Constitution issues, assisting individual tribal members to fill out child support and custody forms, drafing and executing Wills for tribal members, and reviewing and drafting employee appeal decisions.
